Kerry Parker using two runners in the King Charles III Stakes
Kerry Parker isn’t messing about this weekend as he sends both Think It Over and Hope In Your Heart to tackle the 1600m King Charles III Stakes at Royal Randwick on Saturday.
Parker has always been one for punching above his weight when it comes to the big stage and with a much smaller operation at Kembla Grange than some of the Sydney mega stables he’s still confident he’ll be in the mix come Saturday.
There already looks to be some serious depth in the race with the likes of Doncaster winner Mr. Brightside, Group One winners Zaaki and Fangirl as well as a number of imports lining up for there first runs but Parker knows his runners have got what it takes.
Last start winner of the 7 Stakes pulled up slowly after a trial last week however Parker expects Think It Over to be back to his best on TAB Everest day.
"I am really happy with him and he has come along good since the trial," Parker said.
"Nash (Rawiller) came down on Monday and we galloped them both together on the course proper and worked lovely. He is already fit, both horses are, so it's about keeping them in the right frame on mind."
When it comes to Hope in Your Heart, Parker did have other options but decided the money was the driving force to test her against such a stacked field at Randwick.
"We had five million reasons to run her there," Parker said.
"I thought she went absolute terrific in the Epsom wtih the run she had (finishing sixth).
"I think Saturday, if the race is run right for her she is good enough to put herself in the finish. Being a backmarker, she does need things to go a little bit her way but I think she will hold her own because she is in a great place at the moment."
Hope In Your Heart ($34) has drawn barrier 14 for the King Charles with Jason Collett aboard while in-form jockey Nash Rawiller continues his partnership with Think It Over ($14) from barrier four.
