Punters on the all in markets have already begun to get behind Annabelle Neasham trained import Zaaki who has shifted from $11 in betting into joint favourite at $6.
Alongside Zaaki in betting is the Jamie Richards trained Kiwi star Melody Belle and Godolphins gun runner Auvilus. All three currently sit at the $6 mark for the race with 22 nominated runners.
The race will be a third Australian start for Zaaki who finished 6th in the Doncaster Mile followed by a creditable runner up in the JRA Plate over 2000m last time out.
Punters may be rallying round Zaaki as a result of jockey James McDonald being booked to ride. McDonald is heading to Queensland for the first time to ride in the Brisbane Winter Carnival and already has a book of rides scheduled.
Away from the favourites the field continues to gather pace in quality with last start winners Homesman (Australian Cup winner) and Group 1 winner Nettoyer (Queen Of The Turf winner) heading to the Gold Coast
to line up in the Hollindale.
Homesman similar to Zaaki has received backing having moved from $11 to $8 in betting.
Chris Waller, never one to miss a Group Grade party, has nominated 4 runners for the race with last start Neville Selwood winner Shared Ambition leading the quartet at $11.
Other runners lining up for Waller include Toffee Tongue, Mister Sea Wolf and veteran campaigner Humidor. The Hollidale could be Humidor's last start after mixed performances in recent starts and currently sits at $15 in betting.
