Swan Hill Jockey Club June racing carnival has established itself as the premier country racing carnival in the state if not the country. The tip is to get in early with all local accommodation options booking out six months in advance.
Held over the Queens Birthday long weekend in June the three-day carnival at Swan Hill Racecourse kicks off on Friday with the Golden Topaz Stakes worth $75,000.
Following on from family day on the Saturday is the big event, the Murray Downs Golf & Country Club Swan Hill Cup on Sunday also worth $75,000.
With pre-sales increasing each year the marquees reach as far as the eye can see down the straight. There is an option to suit all racegoers from 1 or 2 people up to large corporate marquees.

The Swan Hill Racecourse is in for some major changes with the venue being transformed into a Multi purpose venue.
A harness track will be built alongside the current thoroughbred track to supply double the racing action from the one venue. Swan Hill Jockey Club conducts 10 meetings a year at present.
Racecourse Details:
The Swan Hill Racecourse has a track circumference of 1900 metres and a home straight being 475 metres long. The track is a spacious circuit with sprint races offering long runs to the first turn.
Width of the track in the home straight is 25m. From the winning post the track declines to the 1600m and then remains level until commencing the home turn where it starts to rise. Track is fully irrigated, well-grassed and soil type is loamy.
