The withdrawal of Nature Strip has shifted the price of September Run into $2.10 favouritism for the $1.5m sprint feature with runner up in the Black Caviar Swats That on the second line of betting at $7.
Waller announced that Nature Strip would be swerving the Newmarket via Twitter where the NSW team announced he would also be competing in the Group 2 Challenge Stakes at Randwick on Saturday instead.
It looks as though Nature Strip won’t be the only runner to be missing the Newmarket as Godolphin trained Bivouac likely to stay in Sydney as well to contest either the Challenge Stakes or stretch out over 1300m in the Canterbury Stakes.
In an interview this week trainer James Cummings suggest they were leaning towards the Canterbury:
"We are probably leaning a little more to the Canterbury Stakes at this stage, but there's plenty of speed in his legs if we feel like he's the right horse to keep to the 1000m for this time before we start really ramping him up for the TJ Smith in another month."
"We'll have a chat about it and I think either way we go, you're going to see a horse run very well."
"He's evidently feeling good in himself and the one run he has had up the straight in the Lightning has really brought him on."
Bivouac currently sits at $2.50 for the Canterbury Stakes on Saturday and has drifted to $3 for the Challenge Stakes on all in markets.
Meanwhile the move by Nature Strip has seen him move from $1.90 into $1.70 to take out the Group 2 at Randwick this weekend.
