Mike Moroney really found the key with Tofane when winning the Stradbroke Handicap as well as the Tatts Tiara in an emphatic Queensland Winter Carnival.
Tofane now headlines the field for the traditional spring opening Memsies Stakes with the highest rating amongst the 19 entries.
It will be a tough race for Tofane however with top rated Kiwi runners Aegon and Avantage also entered in the $1m feature.
Trainer Jamie Richards however has signalled that Avantage is more likely to run over the 1200m Cockram Stakes first up rather than tackle the 1400m Memsies.
The race has also drawn interest from the South Australian pairing of Behemoth and Beau Rossa with Behemoth looking to go back to back in the race.
Behemoth will once again be partnered with now Melbourne Champion Jockey Jamie Kah who will take the ride from last years winner Craig Williams.
Also entering the race are recent black type winners Sansom, who won the Bletchingly Stakes and Sierra Sue who won the PB Lawrence. Both of whom will be looking to build on the recent group success for there stables.
Godolphin are possibly one of the most interesting entrants on the nominations after listing Golden Eagle winner Colette for the race.
Colette has become somewhat of a stable star for the James Cummings team after winning the Golden Eagle before going on to defeat the likes of Verry Elleegant and Cox Plate winner Sir Dragonet in the Apollo Stakes later in the season.
The 19 nominations will face the barrier draw on Wednesday.
