Jack is chasing his third Derby win of the campaign having won the Tasmanian Derby and the ATC Derby more recently during the Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival.
Jockey John Allen has partnered with the son of Jakkalberry in both those wins and will once again be on board for the Morphettville feature.
Once the barrier draw had been completed on Tuesday Explosive Jack opened at $3.50 to complete the three-peat before drifting slightly to $3.80 at the end of the day.
The Maher and Eustace training team have two chances in the race with Let’s Kraka Deel joining stablemate Explosive Jack in the field of 16 runners.
Let’s Kraka Deel whilst not winning Derby after Derby has been in good form finishing 5th in the VRC Derby
in the spring and finishing runner up in two starts this prep, one of which being the Port Adelaide Guineas.
A son of Dundeel, Let’s Kraka Deel lines up an $11 chance for the $500,000 feature.
Elsewhere in the line up a run of car park draws continued for Hayes and Dabernig filly Personal who drew barrier 15 of 16 on Tuesday. It follows on from shocking draws in the VRC Oaks where she drew barrier 10 and the Vinery Stud Stakes where she drew 10 from 10 that day as well.
Although a set back the team may not be to worried after Personal won the Oaks from the outside barriers.
Damien Oliver will partner the filly on Saturday once again after a conservative ride in the Vinery before rattling home to finish 2nd. She lines up a $6 chance for the SA Derby on the second line of betting.
