Canberra and Ballarat Racing Preview 23-6-23

Another Friday of solid racing as we try to get that weekend bank looking healthy.

BALLARAT SYNTHETIC

R1 1000m Whitford Liquid Waste Maiden Plate
Siding with the well-bred No.5 Zoumic here. Was very tough first time to the races before being spelled after the most recent run, but loved the way the gelding got into his work in his most recent jump out and expect that first up second prep will be making a winning return to the track.

R3 1200m Global Turf Maiden Plate
Still convinced that No. 9 Capulet is a filly with a bit of ability. She tried very hard on the heavy track at Swan Hill in a strong juvenile race and now back to the synthetic track and a field without much depth, should finally be in the winners stall this afternoon.

R4 1500m 2YO Maiden
No. 2 Boominarite has started short in every trip to the races to date, and while not breaking through yet has run well each time. Group 1 Johnny Allen now jumps on and from Gate 1 should get control of this race and have a good enough run to be winning.

R7 1000m BM64 Handicap
No. 5 Miss Magnifico made a good impression with a big win on debut before being competitive in a good quality metro contest. Three jump outs have this filly ready to go for an average midweek BM64 and from the useless gate continues a good day out for the Maher/Eustace/Allen combination.

Canberra Acton Rail True – Synthetic

R2 1080m Maiden Handicap
No. 2 Missile Leader made a nice debut at Moruya, starting favourite and riding the pace before just being nabbed late. Now second up and fitter suits, this is a weak maiden and I don’t think there are too many chasers to run this leader down.

R5 1280 Maiden Plate
Both runs to date from No. 11 Tavolo have been good, hitting the line well enough last time out at Bathurst. Third up, from a cozy gate in another weak contest we think should be winning this.

R7 1206m BM70
The inside gate can be gold here we’re assuming No. 8 Accrue finds the lead under top jockey Nick Heywood. The honest gelding is never far away and this is a great opportunity to make it 3 wins from the last five starts.
