A huge name in the world of horse racing in Australia with significant recognition in the Western state of the country, Grant and Alana Williams training powerhouse has been dissolved effective immediately.
Winners of 11 Group 1 races across multiple states the training duo have been a dominant force in WA and along with their strong ties with prominent owner Bob Peters and jockey William Pike which has solidified their position at the top of the pile for many years.
It appeared something was in the offing at the start of the week when Alana Williams came off all training duties on Monday morning, leaving Grant Williams to be the sole training of all runners.
Racing and Wagering Western Australia have changed their rules in light of the recent Covid-19 Pandemic and outlined that anyone who is not double vaccinated won’t be allowed to attend race days in WA.
The dissolving of the training partnership comes hot on the heels of prominent WA jockey William Pike announcing he will be moving to Sydney to continue riding in light of the latest rule changes to Covid measures.
All up the training partnership racked up a total of 529 wins from 2054 starts with 11 at Group 1 level, 11 at Group 2 and 23 Group 3 titles.
One of their greatest training achievements would be the winning of the All Star Mile in 2019 where Regal Power took out the $5m race from stablemate Superstorm giving the Williams team the training Quinella.
