Trainers split between QLD and Victoria
Queensland based father and son training partnership Toby and Trent Edmonds are set head in different directions in 2024 with son Trent set to go solo and start training in Victoria in the new year.
Edmonds Jr who has been in partnership with his father Toby for a number of years is set to make Pakenham his permanent training base as he looks to branch out on his own for the first time.
"I'm going to start training by myself in Pakenham in Victoria," Edmonds said on RadioTAB.
"The plan is Magic Millions day will be our last day in partnership and then I will be a Victorian resident.
"I'm looking forward to that, it's a new challenge and it's not something I've just thought about overnight.
"I've been extremely impressed by Pakenham, it's an amazing place to train a horse and it's got everything you need."
As a partnership Toby and Trent have had solid success in recent years winning the Group One Stradbroke Handicap with Tyzone and also claiming the Magic Millions 2YO Classic with Houtzen. This was followed by taking both on a trip to Royal Ascot with mixed success.
They also entered a runner in the the third edition of the All-Star Mile with cult hero The Harrovian, who finished fifth in the race before returning to finish third behind Eduardo in the Group 1 Doomben 10,000 later that year.
Trent Edmonds is set to commence training out of his new Pakenham base at the end of January with first runners expected early February.
