After such a convincing win Probabeel shortened into $4 equal favourite for the world's richest race over a mile to be held at Moonee Valley next month.
It was a great advertisement for the $5 million All Star Mile as joining Probabeel in the placings were Mr Quickie and Western Australian, Arcadia Queen. All three of which were voted into the top ten spots to start when the scoreboard went dark last week.
The race itself was hotly anticipated as one of the stars of spring Behemoth was undefeated over the 1400m at Caulfield and Probabeel and Arcadia Queen had both shown enough talent through there recent Group 1 wins that it could be a pick em race.
It was Probabeel though who showed real class when closing down long term leader Crosshaven and was then able to power away from the fast closing Arcadia Queen.
Damian Lane was in the saddle for the Group 1 feature and was full of praise for the 4 year old.
“I put her in the race early and not many horses can sustain a sprint from as far out as she did,” Lane gushed after winning his 23rd Australian Group One.
“She was so good … I asked her early to get on top of them, on top of Behemoth the beast.
“What would take you 100 metres at least, took me about 20 metres.
“She‘s just so classy, a pleasure to ride.”
The rematch at the Mile should be an interesting prospect as Arcadia Queen is known to get better as she goes after turning the tables on fellow All Star Mile entrant Russian Camelot during the spring.
