Not to worry however as we still have a great day of thoroughbred racing ahead with race meetings at Flemington and Randwick to follow.
Flemington - Race 2 - Still Be Friends - $6
This 1400m BM70 race for the 3 year olds with several last start winners looking to double up at Victorian Racing HQ looks set to be a solid race.
Short price favourite is Zac De Boss ($2.40) comes into the race having won his first two starts however does jump up in grade and carries an extra 1kg for his last start win. Looking at that last start and form the limited form to date the big track and weight could be his undoing with others fancied.
One of those has to be Still Be Friends, a 3yo son of Brazen Beau. Was right in it last time in a similar race an grade last time out here when falling to the fast finishing Beltoro who gapped the field altogether. Did follow that up though with an emphatic win by 2.25 lengths at Werribee.
The inside barrier should counter the weight increase and maps well to get the run of the race and should be right in the finish.
Back Still Be Friends e/w $6.
Randwick - Race 3 - Fifteen Aria - $4.40
Another promising 3 year old from the Chris Waller stable, Fifteen Aria had trialled twice without showing much before beating a smart field on debut at Warwick Farm.
The win that day was recognised further after the time clocked was quicker than that of a BM 72 run over the same distance later in the meet.
Stablemate Zing is one to watch swooping late. Having placed in her last two starts over 1300m and 1600m she should be cherry ripe to go in this one.
For us it comes down to the weight however with Jay Ford riding under 52.5kgs, down 2.5kgs from her last start we expect the 3yo to stay quiet and power home later
Back Fifteen Aria to win $4.40.
