Top Chance Out Of The Magic Millions 2yo
The Queensland champion trainer won his very first Magic Millions 2yo Classic only 12 months ago when he watched Skirt The Law cross the line first back in January.
Gollan was hoping to defend the title that he won 12 months prior with Barbie’s Sister after she won in the Listed Grade Calaway Gal just last week. However injury has now scuppered those chances.
"She got a chip in her knee from that run on Saturday," Gollan said of the full sister to Outback Barbie.
"She will be out for a while now, we will miss the Magic Millions."
Barbies Sister was rated as an $11 chance in the early Magic Millions markets before her withdrawal.
Gollan has already suffered a setback to his Magic Millions campaign as he was forced to withdraw Skirt The Law from attempting to win the 3yo Guineas after he claimed the 2yo Classic earlier this year.
The set back comes as Gollan is set to trial a number of two years in the hope of claiming one of the Debut races, which this year have been split into two different campaigns.
"We will see where they take us," Gollan said.
"They don't have to go to The Debut races, it will be a wait and see how they go with the trials.
"It's hard with these two-year-olds, it is a lot of time for them, a lot of things need to fall your way to get them there.
"For me it is really a case of trialling three or four nice two-year-olds and if they happen to get there from trialling well, they do."
