Antino Backed To Bounce Back In Sydney

Antino backed in the Five Diamonds

Racing fans have been quick to get behind Antino in the Five Diamonds at Rosehill with the Queenslander drawing well for the $2m 1800m feature set to take place on Saturday.

In a talented field Antino received probably the most favourable barrier when drawing slot number 2 and punters were quick to jump on the perfect draw when backing five year old from $4.60 into a $3.40 favourite. 

Gollan is looking for his runner to jump back into the winners enclosure after finishing second in both the Toorak Handicap and Crystal Mile with his last win coming in the Group 3 Sandown Stakes in early September. 

Everest winner Sam Clipperton has been booked to ride Antino for the first time and will take on a strong field in only the second ever running of the five diamonds. 

The Five Diamonds prelude winner, Palmetto will be closely tracking Antino with the John Sargent runner drawing one outside of the current race favourite.

Chris Waller turns out a traditionally strong hand with four runners set to line up in the $2m feature. Hinged, Waterford and Thalassophile all line up as outsiders for the stable while Democracy Manifest presents as the best chance at $8.

Waterhouse and Bott, currently in some of the best form in recent years, line up three runners in Hoo Ya Mal, Converge and Zoumon in the race.

An interesting contender in the form of Jimi Hendrix also lines up in the race for the first time for trainer Annabel Neasham. Jimi Hendrix has strong form lines in the UK and presents as an outside chance at $18.
