The AuriesStar Handicap is a Victoria Racing Club Group 3 Australian horse race run under open handicap conditions.  FREE $200 Bet

It is for runners aged three years old and upwards and is contested over a race distance of 1200 metres. It is held annually at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne in August.

Prize money for the Aurie's Star Handicap is worth $151,000. Previously a listed race, the Aurie's Star Handicap was elevated to a Group 3 status event for the 2010/2011 racing season.

2011 Aurie's Star Handicap

The new season got underway with a superb ride from Kiwi apprentice Jamie McDonald and an impressive win from Temple Of Boom in this Group 3 sprint down the Flemington straight. The five-year-old was held back in the early stages before cruising past the leaders about 200 metres out and holding on for a comfortable victory over a fast finishing Rekindled Interest, with Offenders in third.
