Held annually in late May at Doomben Racecourse in Brisbane Queensland, The Lady of the Turf Stakes is a Group three event for Fillies and Mares organized by the Brisbane Racing Club. Free $200 Bet

It was run as the Glenlogan Park Stakes since 2002, and from the 2012 season will be known as the Moreton Stakes. Horses travel a distance of 1350 meters under set weight and penalty conditions in a bid to take home a purse of $150,000.

The Lady of the Turf Stakes was a listed race until the 2009 racing season, after which it achieved Group 3 status. The race takes place on the same day as the Group 1 Doomben Cup. With its schedule in the winter racing carnival, the Lady of the Turf Stakes attracts a good set of fillies and mares. The home run on the Doomben track is a 400 metre straight which makes this race one of the most entertaining of the carnival where the strongest gallopers can prove their mettle in the final stretch.

The Lady of the Turf Stakes is one of the main events for fillies and mares who are stronger gallopers and seek to acclimatize themselves for the better class, same sex races at Eagle Farm, such as the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes on Oaks Day or the Group 1 Winter Stakes, which are both 1400 meter races in June. These races are the premier female races of the carnival, with many of them competing in all three events or at least two races in a bid to score a double and a chance to win a total of almost a million dollars.

The 2011 Lady of the Turf Stakes was won by Kanzan, while Zero Rock and Returntosender placed second and third respectively. Kanzan prior to her win here won the listed Hawkesbury Crown while the 2010 winner, Wealth Princess went on to place in both the Dane Ripper Stakes and Winter Stakes. In 2009, Russeting who placed third, went on to run fourth in the Dane Ripper Stakes and then won the Winter Stakes.

The 2008 runner up in the Lady of the Turf Stakes, Chincilla Rose, won the 2009 Dane Rippler Stakes. A number of fillies who have placed well in the Lady of the Turf have gone on to perform well in other group races since 1985. Notable winners in the Lady of the Turf Stakes include Beautiful Gem in 2005, Ortensia in 2009, and Wealth Princess in 2010. Other notable winners were Quizzical Lady in 2008, Strom Signal in 2007, and Countess Bathory in 2006.

Kanzan did get back in the early stages but kept enough in reserve to sprint home at the business end of the race and grab victory by a neck over a very gallant Zero Rock while Returntosender battled on for third place.
