South Australian Jockey Club

The South Australian Jockey Club is South Australia’s premier racing club, playing host to 65 days of racing action throughout the year at Morphettville Racecourse.

The club has a membership of around 2000, 9 Board Members and employs 75 full-time and more than 400 casual staff.

In 1875 the first race meeting was held at Morphettville. The very first race was won by "Red Gauntlet" owned by The  Hon. Thomas Elder, who had been a prime mover in the establishment of the racecourse.

The much-anticipated second turf track at Morphettville is now complete. The first meeting was run on Wednesday 17th June 2009. The new track, known as 'The Parks', will enable the South Australian Jockey Club (SAJC) to conduct up to 70 race meetings a year.

In an Australian racing first, South Australia's premier thoroughbred racing track, Morphettville Racecourse, is renamed 'Allan Scott Park Morphettville', following the generous sponsorship from Scott Group of Companies. South Australian Racing Carnival
