A tidy little afternoon of Friday racing as we head into the Queensland Derby day at Eagle Farm, so lets find a few winners for Pro Group Racing.
BALLARAT
R1 1200 Ballarat Volkswagen Maiden
Lets kick off the afternoon with a winner, No. 7 The Simple Life has put in two nice trials to date. Kicks off with Linda Meech in a race where it should be able to take up a position close the pace, should be making a winning debut.
R3 Four Year Old and Upwards Maiden
No. 11 Parabellum has been brave on both occasions to the track to date. With a tickover trial since a 7 week break, now coming to an older horses maiden she will be breaking through here.
R5 Middy’s Electrical (BM58)
No. 4 Overshady was good in two provincial runs this preparation before hitting a heavy track at metropolitan level. Should take up an on pace position without a ton of other pace around and be hard to beat.
R8 0-64 Handicap
No. 7 Frenchmans Bay broke through with a well deserved win fresh at the track and distance 3 weeks back, now meets an average 58 field and with Johnny Allen on board can make it back to back wins this preparation.
CRANBOURNE Track Soft – Rail +9m
R4 2600 Procon Developments Maiden Plate
No. 5 Keevs ran well first ime out to 2500m last start, just worn down by a tough stayer. Now getting a softer lead at a track where he’s run well a couple of starts ago, finally think the stayer can break through here.
R6 2600m Ladbrokes RC Sky Heights BM70
No. 5 Wudzz was truckloaded at the Warnambool Carnival and won like a good thing should. Spring boarding off that onto another track with the cut of out of it, can make it consecutive wins for the Henry Dwyer yard.
GOULBURN Track Good – Rail True
1300m Doyles Seafood Restaurant Maiden
Blake Spriggs sticks with No. 5 Kokoshnik, who resumed in nice style working home at Kembla Grange. A soft gate and out to 1300 metres both look positives and should be very hard to beat.
R2 Campbell Petroleum District Maiden
The trials of Hellfire Express have been great, but the form around No. 1 Denman Star looks irresitable for a Goulburn maiden. Close up to horses that went on to black type juveniles in a couple of races last preparation, the gelding is capable of holding a position here and winning this before heading back to town for bigger and better things.
R8 Gouldburn Mazda BM66
Looking for the 3YO filly resuming here, No.11 draws the outside gate late in the day. A nice debutante winner who has trialled in good order for this and with clear air can get the job done resuming here.
