We’re on the eve of the TAB Goodwood & Doomben Cup meetings, so let's build a nice bank as we head into a cracking weekend of racing.
GEELONG SOFT – RAIL TRUE
R2 1400m Bomboras Maiden Plate
No. 4 Sierra De Gredos was very well supported on debut at The ‘Bool and didn’t handle the deteriorating surface. Caught the eye in a number of trials leading up to that and coming back to a better track and a the nice big straight at Geelong suits and we think can atone for the first up defeat.
R3 1200m McCartney Real Estate Maiden Plate
No. 1 Immortality stepped out for the first time in a Spring Listed Race, starting in the market. Has had a lengthy spell since but the two trials back in have been fantastic. If it runs up to those it’ll be a running double early in the card for the Price/Kent team.
CRANBOURNE SOFT – RAIL +7m
R3 Rosemont Stud Maiden Plate
Thought that No.1 Kessler was brave on debut, forced to race outside lead on a heavy surface and stuck on bravely. With a touch better run and a better track think can go one better here.
R5 Browns Sawdust & Shavings F & M BM64
Looking for the lightly raced filly here in the form of No. 3 Miss Icelandic. Debuted in quite a strong maiden contest back in March, defeating talented filly Starianne. Jump out winner since and now coming to a very winnable midweek contest.
R8 1600 BM78
Good little race to finish the Cranbourne card but No. 5 Daiquiri made a good impression on Australian debut. That form has been franked since and with natural improvement can remain undefeated down under.
