Trainer Kerry Parker confirmed that his Queen Elizabeth II Stakes winner, Think It Over will not race again this year after the Group One winner sustained a tendon injury that will keep him off the track for a lengthy period of time.
Parker confirmed that the extent of the tendon injury is still unknown but he was taking no chances with the Weight For Age star and that he will be given plenty of time to recover and complete a rehabilitation program.
“The horse’s well-being and recovery are paramount,’’ Parker said.
“I’m sure his fans, particularly the groundswell of support from his hometown of Wollongong will be as disappointed as we are, and it would be heart-breaking to think this could be the end of his career.
“But if ever there was a horse that can beat the odds and make a successful comeback it is our ‘Sid’.’’
Think It Over had been coming off an incredible season where he had quickly become a fans favourite after winning the Chelmsford and Hill Stakes at Group 2 level as well as the Craven Plate and Rosehill Gold Cup at Group 3 level.
He headed on to the Autumn where he started with victory in the Group 2 Apollo Stakes followed by a runners up spot in the Australia Cup before getting his biggest victory to date in the Group One Queen Elizabeth Stakes.
Owner, Richard Johnston was understandably saddened by the news.
“Think It Over has brought me, my family, Kerry and a legion of fans so much joy during his career," Johnston said.
“But at the end of the day we need to put the horse’s needs first.
“We will do all that it takes to ensure ‘Sid’ is looked after.’’
