Conners believes a Monday morning barrier trial for Rebel Rama has his runner ready to fire in the Gold Coast festival.
The daughter of Group 1 winning Dissident had the perfect tune up on her home turf on Monday and looks in prime position to now compete in the 2400m contest.
Rebel Rama was last seen competing in the Midway where she finished 5th in the 2000m contest and ran strongly in the 1200m hitout earlier in the week.
She ran strongly through the line, finishing alongside the Matthew Dunn-trained Subterranean, which clocked 1:12.85 seconds (last 600m in 35.16) for the gallop.
“It was a nice hit-out and should have brought her on nicely for Saturday,” Conners said.
“Brock (Ryan) was really happy with her, she gave him a good feel and she ran through the line strongly.”
The TAB have got Rebel Rama down as an $11 shot for the Subzero Magic Millions behind Bjorn Baker trained favourite Parry Sound at $3.50.
Rebel Rama was initially slated to run in The Wave on Saturday just gone but Conners elected to miss the 1800m event in favour of the longer contest.
“We were trying to get there for one of the races (during the Magic Millions carnival) and she was nominated for the Wave last week but we decided to wait another week,” Conners said.
“We thought this would be a better race for her and the Wave was a strong race the other day but wasn't worth as much prizemoney.
“If she can draw a barrier, she should run out a nice 2400m.”
Saturday will be the first time Rebel Rama has been tested over the 2400m. She has previously won over 2000m and was ninth in the G1 Queensland Oaks over 2200m.
