A trip up to the Gold Coast is where the pair will finally team up with Pike booked to ride Nothinsweetaboutme for Waterhouse and co-trainer Adrian Bott in the Gold Coast Bracelet on Hollindale Stakes Day.
Pike has a book of rides for the day and Gai Waterhouse couldn’t be happier to have the Wizard booked to take the ride.
“He (Pike) is riding super, it doesn’t matter where he has been riding or what track he has been riding on, he has been going so well,” Waterhouse said.
“It will be great to have him ride for us next Saturday on a filly who could be on an Oaks path.
“The filly he will be riding, Nothinsweetaboutme, is well-named because she has a really quirky personality.”
Pike was as equally complimentary about riding for the Waterhouse-Bott team.
“I feel like my career has been going well lately and this will be another exciting step, riding one for Mrs Waterhouse,” Pike said.
“Everyone knows the Waterhouse name and it will be a big thrill for me and a really nice moment in my career to be riding one for her and Adrian.
“I am really looking forward to getting to the Gold Coast and riding in Queensland for the first time.”
Pike has been having a stellar season already winning 4 group 1s during the Victorian Spring Carnival as well as a host of top class rides across the Sydney Autumn Carnival.
Nothingsweetaboutme has won 2 from 3 starts and was 4th last time out in the Group 3 Kembla Grange Classic where a tightly run race saw Merivale get up late to win.
