Trainer Cummings is expecting ‘Sparks to fly’ when the Godolphin trained Paulele will take on an outstanding field of 3yo sprinters that include the Golden Slipper winner Stay Inside, in the San Domenico at Kembla Grange on Saturday.
Cummings confirmed that Paulele would race no matter the ground with rain expected to affect the surface for the re-arranged meeting.
“I would be inclined to still run Paulele on a heavy track,” Cummings said.
“I’m really happy with the way he has progressed, he is in excellent order.
“We will be running in the San Domenico and the sparks will be flying because there is plenty of depth in the race.”
When first up Paulele scored an impressive victory in the Rosebud Stakes and now sits joint second favourite for the San Domenico alongside Remarque at $4.
The Godolphin three year olds have hit the ground running this season with Ingratiating adding the Vain Stakes to the Rosebud Paulele won. With Anamoe set to come into contention as well the Royal Blue are looking a formidable force once again.
“Anamoe is great, he’s still on target to resume next month in the Run To The Rose,” Cummings said.
“Thankfully this virus has gone as quickly as it came around, he has been tough enough to proceed.
“He’s bright and feeling well, he is back on the training tracks and getting on with it.”
