Mirage Dancer has already given Busuttin and his training partner Natalie Young Group 1 success on their last road trip to Sydney as the 7yo Stallion took out The Metropolitan against a strong field.
The Frankel entire certainly has a strong pedigree and Kiwi Busuttin is as confident as ever that Mirage Dancer can bring more success to the Victorian based stable.
“My bloke is a rung below the top ones, the top ones are the Verry Elleegants and those sort of horses but they are not here this year,” Busuttin said.
“I said to the owners after the Sky High, 'we’ll go to the Tancred, we’ll run in the top five or six'.
“There’s probably going to be two or three that are better than us, but we’ll pick up some stake money but since the field has come out, I’ve reassessed and think he’s a legitimate winning chance.
“My horse is going to get a firm track which he wants. He’s going to get a mile-and-a-half which he wants and I was rapt when the barriers came out.
“He’s going to get the right run in behind them – fourth, fifth, sixth spending no bickies and will present at the right time.
“I think this could be a race where there’s only about three to four lengths covering the first 10 home, so any advantage is a big help.”
Mirage Dancer has received backing in the market and is currently a $9.50 chance after opening at $10 in betting.
