I’m Thunderstruck had a gallop at Sandown on Wednesday between races with the design by Price for the atmosphere to be less stressful so his stable star could enjoy the gallop without the large raceday stresses.
The Golden Eagle winner has run fifth in both The C.F Orr and Futurity Stakes on his last two outings. With usual jockey Jye McNeil suspended this week, Jamie Kah jumped aboard I’m Thunderstruck for the gallop.
“She said she had plenty there and he was strong to the line and strong through the line and had she wanted to put her foot down a little bit, he would have accelerated,“ Price said.
“That was not what we were after.“
In the gallop, I’m Thunderstruck cruised around the Sandown track behind stablemate Our Playboy before moving alongside in the final 600m.
“The last two races for him, he’s been quite stressy and letting off too much nervous energy watching him at the races,” Price continued.
“We wanted a day at the race where he was calm, give him a gallop and not get stressed by racing as such.
“So physically and mentally it was a good idea to bring him out here.
“He’s got some improvement to come, but he worked really well and his fitness is where you want it.”
I’m Thunderstruck currently sits as a $7 shot to win the All Star Mile with Zaaki for the Annabel Neasham stable holding favouritism at $3.
“The All-Star Mile is looking better and better and for $5m they’re not going to give it away and they want the best horses and they’re getting the best horse and he’s one of them,” Price said.
“He’ll be cherry ripe on the day."
