A three time Melbourne Cup winner, McEvoy will ride three horses for O’Shea on Saturday with chances in both the Queensland Guineas and the Group Two Victory Stakes.
McEvoy’s biggest ride will be aboard Bend The Knee in the $350,000 Australian Guineas. Bend The Knee comes into the race having finished off well in the South Pacific Classic at Royal Randwick during the Autumn Racing Carnival.
Bend The Knee currently sits on the second line of betting for the Guineas as a $6 chance with Green Belt leading the field as a standout $2.80 favourite.
McEvoy will also be riding another one of O’Shea’s prominent runner in Quantico who will tackle the Victory Stakes at Eagle Farm.
Quantico has had a very subdued Autumn with O’shea choosing not to run five year old on the heavy tracks of Sydney. His one start during the campaign came in the Group 1 Newmarket Handicap where he finished 11th.
Quantico will face a stiff test in the Victory Stakes where he sits as a $4 second favourite behind Queensland Boom horse Rothfire at $3.50.
McEvoy also has a number of rides for Chris Waller on the weekend and is expected to be a regular in Queensland during the Winter Carnival. He is expected to pick up a ride in the Group 2 Hollindale Stakes next.
Fellow Sydney star Hugh Bowman is also bound for the Gold Coast on Hollindale Stakes day after spending next week riding in Victoria over the Warrnambool carnival.
