We haven’t seen Personal on the track since her memorable victory in the VRC Oaks however co-trainer Tom Dabernig has started to outline possible routes for the 3 year old filly kicking off with the Group 3 Vanity at Flemington next month.
“She will probably kick off in The Vanity and maybe run in the Australian Guineas before we go to Sydney,” Dabernig, who trains Personal in a newly formed partnership with Ben Hayes said.
“I think we’ll do a hit-and-run trip to Sydney for her first run then see how she goes before the Oaks.
“I think it will be similar to the spring where we took it one run at a time and kept setting targets.”
The likely target on a trip to Sydney is going to be the Group 1 Australian Oaks where the Lindsay Park team will be aiming to be the first filly since Serenade Rose in 05/06 to complete a VRC and Australian Oaks double.
Dabernig said that Personal is already in the final stages of her comeback prep from the paddock having enjoyed a short break after victory in November before returning to work.
“It’s hard to improve on what she’s already done but she’s come back really well,” Dabernig said.
“She’s up to the early stages of her fast work and she had short spell but she did well during that time and there’s no negative at all with her.”
The Australian Oaks takes place on the first weekend of the Championships in Sydney and prices are yet to be published for the 2400m contest at Randwick.
Personal won the VRC Oaks at $6 and is surely set to start much shorter if her prep goes well in the lead up to April.
