Mystic journey has competed in a horse race in Tasmania in nearly two years however she is expected to make light work of a small field on Wednesday night opening up at $1.09 favourite for the race.
The mighty mare had a solid spring campaign tackling 4 Group races in Melbourne at Caulfield, The Valley and Flemington.
Despite strong runs in the Memsies and Empire Rose it was a largely fruitless campaign with a solitary Group 2 victory in the Stocks Stakes over 1600 metres at Moonee Valley.
The field on Wednesday doesn’t carry the same pedigree as Group racing in Victoria which was quickly noted by TAB who opened the betting with Mystic Journey at $1.10. With only a small field of 6 running there was only one other runner in single figures.
Regular hoop Luke Currie takes the ride on the short priced favourite Mystic Journey as she looks to have another crack at the $5 All Star Mile in the Autumn.
“It’s a good race, a weight-for-age 1200m race, for her to kick off so it will be good to see how she goes,” Currie told Racenet.
“I’ll go and ride her in the races in Tassie and I suppose, if she gets a run in the All-Star Mile, that I’ll have first refusal on her for that race as long as I ride her well in the lead-up races."
“I suppose she doesn’t have to win those races in Tassie but it’s all about giving her the right prep, but you would expect her to be winning down there."
