King Of Sparta, winner of the 2022 Magic Millions 3YO Guineas had his second public barrier trial over 1045m at the Randwick track in Sydney’s East and was kept under a tight grip by jockey Tommy Berry.
The gelding who is a son of I Am Invincible looked in great shape when finishing fifth in the hit out, three and a half lengths behind trial winner Siyata.
“He’s ready to go now,” Paul Snowden said. “He did what we wanted him to do, quickened up nice and then he idled down on the wet track.
“He resumes in the Healy Stakes on Tiara Day.
“He kicks off in the Healy and then we’ll see what happens.
“He’s the sort of horse you can run him once every four to six weeks.”
Also on the cards could be a potential tilt at the Ramornie Handicap over 1200m at Grafton in July having had previous success in the race.
The Ramornie Handicap is one of the biggest country sprint races with a winning purse of $200,000.
The Snowdens have had previous form with the race having won it a combined four times previously. In 2020 they sealed victory with Signore Fox having previously won in 2017 as a training partnership with Calanda.
Peter Snowden had also won the race twice when head trainer at Darley with his runners Pinwheel in 2010 and Jerezana the following year.
