Jamie Kah’s brilliant season continued when being voted Lady Of Racing 2021 by the Wakeful Club and added to an already outstanding season in the saddle.
Kah looks certain to become the first female to win the Melbourne Jockey’s premiership having opened up an emphatic 30 win lead over Damien Oliver whilst heading last years winner Craig Williams by 43.
The Wakeful Club was founded 20 years ago in 2001. The club is a proud sponsor of female students who study in equine fields as well as raising money for foundations like Racehorse Rescue and rehoming groups as well as the National Jockeys’ Trust.
Jamie’s name will be added to the list previous winners that includes the likes of Michelle Payne, Wendy Kelly and Amanda Elliott who are all on the Lady of Racing Roll Call.
“I am very humbled to receive this awarded,” Kah said.
“To be named the Lady of Racing is an honour.
“There are so many amazing females out there doing so much for the racing industry so to be recognised as one of them is very special.”
Kah has had many incredible moments already this season including her recent Group 1 success aboard Nature Strip in the Black Caviar Lightning Stakes.
Victorian Wakeful Club President Caitrin Kelly said there “little discussion or debate required” when choosing Kah as the 27th winner of Lady Of Racing.
“The success she has achieved in her short time riding in Melbourne is phenomenal, and Jamie is an inspiration to young up-and-coming female jockeys,” Kelly said.
