Eduardo who finished third in The Everest and also won the Classique Legend Stakes and Joe Pride is expecting another strong outing from his stable sprint star.
“He’s flying at home,” Pride said.
“He’s still a while off his first mission so we don’t need to do too much but he’ll do what Eduardo does. He’s a fast horse and he’ll trial well.”
Unlike 2021 Pride knows that if Eduardo is to return in the same form that saw him defeat Nature Strip last year then he should be able to secure a slot in this years Everest.
“He’s got nothing to prove to anyone anymore,” he said.
“He spelled really well. I think he’ll run for another two years. He was left alone early on so that gives me the opportunity to take him right through to his old age.”
“He’ll have two trials before he goes to Melbourne (Lightning Stakes) so we’ll build up as we go.
“He could go back up to Brisbane but that’s a long way off. I’m just thinking about Melbourne then a few races in Sydney first.”
Eduardo won’t rubbing shoulders with the other racing elite however as Pride has placed Eduardo in a later trial around midday.
“If they put on an 800m barrier (Group) barrier trial I would’ve gone in it. I’m sure they can have 800m on the course proper. They have a 900m trial and 1000m trials. What’s the use in that? They’re the same trial,” Pride said.
“I don’t want to be running him in a 900m trial a month before he goes to a Group 1 over 1000m.”
