Racing Victoria reported that Western Australian Arcadia Queen had shifted a plate at her bendigo base and then presented slightly lame in her off foreleg as a result.
Arcadia Queen had been sitting as low as $3.30 in the betting for Saturday's All Star Mile however the news coming out of the state on Thursday has seen the long time favourite for the $5m feature drift out to $3.70 for the race.
The other horse which is causing concern is the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained Shout The Bar who failed the compulsory vets check. Racing Victoria reported Shout The Bar was 2/5 lame in the off foreleg and failed inspection.
Should we see Arcadia Queen and Shout The Bar ruled out of the race 1st and 2nd emergencies Fifty Stars and So Si Bon are set to get a start in the race.
Fifty Stars is set to be ridden by John Allen should the Lindsay Park runner get a run in the richest mile race however that would leave Maher and Eustace trained Sir Dragonet without a rider.
The Cox Plate winning trainers haven’t confirmed if Sir Dragonet will start the race as yet with weather conditions holding up proceedings on a decision despite the ex-Irish galloper moving from $22 to $15 in betting.
Elsewhere in the market there has been a lot less movement with second favourite Probabeel holding firm in betting at $4. Should Arcadia Queen be withdrawn from the race Probabeel is likely to become an extremely short price for the $5m feature.
