Voting closed just over two weeks back with the likes of Arcadia Queen, Behemoth and Probabeel locking in there places in the starting barriers through votes accumulated.
This weekend we saw Racing Victoria announce the wildcards for the $5m spectacle with Shout The Bar (Waterhouse and Bott), Mugatoo (Kris Lees), Star Of The Seas (Chris Waller), Streets Of Avalon (Shane Nichols) as well as Australian Guineas winner Lunar Fox for Paul Pruesker all get a starting spot.
Sea Of The Stars was able to secure a wildcard spot for the Waller team after taking out the Group 2 Group 2 Blarney Stakes at Flemington on the weekend and will represent the stable after a decision was made to pull Verry Elleegant from running to remain in Sydney.
Lunar Fox is the real story though having gone from $301 outsider to winning the $1m Australian Guineas on Saturday and in doing so secure a spot in the world's richest 1 mile race on turf.
The All Star Mile has already presented a fairytale when Mystic Journey won the race last time out and scooped a cheque for $2.25m when the Tasmanian runner was purchased for just $11,000.
Those with a starting spot at the moment are:
1. Arcadia Queen
2. Behemoth
3. Probabeel
4. Still A Star
5. Greysful Glamour
6. Russian Camelot
7. Regalo Di Gaetano
8. The Harrovian
9. Sir Dragonet
10. Mr Quickie
11. Lunar Fox
12. Shout The Bar
13. Mugatoo
14. Star Of The Seas
15. Streets Of Avalon
Racing Victoria also went on to name a list of provisional named emergencies should one of the above be unable to take their place in the barriers on March 13.
Final final field will be confirmed on Tuesday 9th March with barrier draw held on the same day. Can Lunar Fox go again? The bookies are definitely more cautious with Ladbrokes currently holding $41 on the 3 year old.
