The Annabel Neasham trained import and favourite for the 2022 All Star Mile, Zaaki received a horror draw for the $5m feature at Flemington this Saturday.
Zaaki will jump from the widest alley in barrier 15 but will be partnered by premiership winning Jamie Kah who travels back to Melbourne fresh off the back of riding five winners in Adelaide on Monday.
In betting Zaaki currently sits on top of the pile as $3.50 with bookies unwilling to take the chance that the wide alley could affect Neashams runner.
On the other end of the barriers on Saturday will be I’m Thunderstruck who drew barrier one. Based on his racing pattern it could prove a tricky hurdle for the Golden Eagle winner who is currently a $6 chance alongside Inspirational Girl.
The Danny O’Brien-trained Inpsirational Girl, who beat Zaaki last start in the Blamey Stakes, got a perfect gate with barrier four with Streets Of Avalon (barrier three) and Mr Brightside (two) to her inside.
Sierra Sue was one of the late entries for the All Star Mile after gaining wildcard entry by winning the Group 1 Futurity Stakes and drew barrier 13.
Tofane, third in the Futurity Stakes, is perfectly positioned to add another big race scalp to her resume from barrier seven.
A trio of three-year-olds will line up and all have drawn out with Captivant in barrier 11, Lightsaber in 12 and Pinstriped in eight.
Despite the wide draw Zaaki continues to receive backing from the punters with bookmakers reporting money continues to come for the multiple Group 1 winner.
