After an impressive performance Alligator Blood is now set to debut for his new stable under the stewardship of Adrian Bott and Gai Waterhouse.
Since transferring from Queensland Bott confirmed Alligator Blood is ready to head back to the track after two encouraging trials.
“I thought his first trial for us was very good against a nice, sharp filly [Minhaaj], so that gave us plenty of confidence that he was on the right path,” Bott said.
“So today, a bit fitter and over a bit further, we wanted to put him under a bit more pressure and have him ready to roll at the races.
“The impressive part about today was that he lengthened nicely when asked for his effort. He did exactly what we hoped to see from him, but he still has to do it under race conditions and under that pressure.”
Tim Clark was aboard Alligator Blood for the trial and traveled well in the run before beating home Arranmore and import Reggiewood over the 1030m contest.
Bott said they are yet to settle on a suitable first-up target for Alligator Blood but he’ll step out over the next fortnight.
“You‘ll see him within the next two weeks.
“We‘ll now sit down with connections and find the most suitable kick-off for him.
“There are a couple of nice options but we really want to find a race that is most suitable for him to get back in the winners‘ circle - a race to build his confidence,” Bott said.
Alligator Blood’s last win came in the Group 1 Australian Guineas back in Feb 2020 however he has only placed in 2 of his last seven starts.
Bott believes the Group 1 Doncaster Handicap could be the best option where he currently sits as a $51 shot in betting.
