The 2400 metre race is held at Eagle Farm Racecourse with $200,000 in prize money up for grabs.

TheTattersall's Cup is scheduled on the last day of the Eagle Farm racing carnival. Other major races of the day include the Group 1 Winter Stakes (Tattersall's Tiara) and Group 3 WJ Healy Stakes.

The Tattersall's Cup usually fields local horses with staying talent who are around at this time of the year and in search of black type races to enhance their rating. Horses may make their way from the 2600m Group 3 Chairman's Handicap held earlier at Randwick Racecourse. Another likely lead up event is the Group 3 Premier's Cup held at Doomben Racecourse over the same distance and conditions.
