Winx Connections to Others: Don’t Bother Showing for Apollo
With track conditions at Royal Randwick necessitating the rail to be moved out mine metres for Saturday’s Group 2 Apollo Stakes, the field will be limited to 13, for the moment, and Chris Waller and Joh O’Shea of the Godolphin stables could have nine of the 13 entries.
Is there a punting market for a horse trained by Waller or O’Shea to win?
If there was such a market, could it possibly be any shorter than the $1.20 TAB Fixed Odds Winx backers can receive?
Only O’Shea’s Hartnell and Waterhouse/Bott’s Global Glamour at $11.00 are seemingly in the conversation as Winx goes for her 14th consecutive win.
There is still some uncertainty as to which horses will actually run, as not only Royal Randwick, but Caulfield as well, is holding a raft of high quality races. Global Glamour, for one, is entered for the Group 2 Light Fingers Stakes at the same track on the same day. Perhaps Tulloch or Phar Lap could have attempted two races at one meeting, but today’s thoroughbreds are so pampered that two races in one month is about the limit that can be expected.
We are obviously kidding, a bit, about those two legends running twice at the same meeting.
