Winx Backers for Queen Elizabeth Stakes Need to Act Fast
The Timeform rating for Winx crept up to 134, based on her recent seven-length win in the Group 1 George Ryder Stakes at Rosehill Saturday past, moving ahead of a group of veritable Who’s Who list of Australian thoroughbreds that includes Gunsynd, So You Think and Might And Power.
She is within three points of Kingston Town, with a gap of four finding Tulloch and Bernsborough and then seven between her and Phar Lap.
The only mare ahead of her is Black Caviar at 136.
So dominant was she in winning the Ryder at rain-soaked Rosehill that she has been priced at $1.15 for the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth Stakes and it would seem prudent to get that wager on before she shortens as the April 8 race day at Royal Randwick gets closer. Unless there is a surprise on the order of Prince of Penzance lurking in the field, such as the $101.00 Happy Clapper, any of the horses in the field with Winx for the Queen Elizabeth anywhere near her in the pricing are all ones she has beaten convincingly in the past.
It is a fortunate thing that thoroughbreds do not have outsized egos, else there might be none to line up against Winx. Almost as impressive is that she seems to be improving.
