She Will Reign Hopes to Rule at Rosehill in Silver Slipper
When the juveniles take to the track this weekend at Rosehill for the Group 2 Silver Slipper Stakes (1100 metres), She Will Reign is the odds-on favourite at $1.80.
The two-year-old filly by Manhattan Rain from Courgette has known no other spot than first in the four times she has taken to the track thus far in the early stages of her career, two of those trials, so she presents the usual ambiguity of an untested entity, but has demonstrated the wherewithal to win under different track conditions.
Her biggest win without doubt was the Inglis Nursery Stakes at Royal Randwick, where she carried Ben Melham to a dominant victory, winning by nearly five lengths.
The Silver Slipper will also feature of field of 12, for anyone who seeks omens of any kind. Her closest competition is Khan at $5.00. The Peter and Paul Snowden trained chestnut colt by Exceed And Excel from Frances’ Mandawara also claims a win at Randwick in the Listed Breeders’ Plate back in October.
Paradis Imperial seems to be the outsider with the most experience, as she has won all five times she has started. Oddsmakers have her at $26.00.
Godolphin is fielding Veranillo, currently at $8.00.
She Will Reign currently enjoys favourtism for next month’s Golden Slipper, where she will try to deny Houtzen the magic Millions/Golden Slipper double.
