Pittsburg Penguins Stanley Cup Champions NBA Could be Decided Soon
The Pittsburgh Penguins secured the 2016 NHL Stanley Cup by beating the San Jose Sharks on the Sharks’ home ice, affectionately known as the Shark Tank, despite Greg Norman being nowhere to be seen on Sunday night (Monday, Oz time).
The Sharks gave it their all, and the game was in doubt up until late in the third period, when trailing 2 – 1, the Sharks pulled their goaltender and donated an easy, Cup clinching goal to the Penguins, who had taken a 2 – 1 lead in the middle of the second period, less than two minutes after the Sharks had tied the game at one all. For a large part of the game, it seemed as though the Sharks were on a power play, as they spent minute after minute in the Pittsburgh zone, peppering Penguins goalie Matt Murray with shots.
In the NBA, a champion could be crowned in Oakland, California, as the Cleveland Cavaliers try to stave off final elimination. Golden State will be sans services of Draymond Green, who was somewhat capriciously given a one-game suspension in the days following an on-court confrontation with easily offended LeBron James, whose feelings were hurt by some of Green’s less-than-complimentary comments.
