Peter Snowden Fancies Stellar Pauline in Radio Interview
Peter and Paul Snowden have four runners in the upcoming Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Gold Coast this weekend.
For just a moment there, we thought we should be typing Chris Waller and Randwick, but this is not the case, as the Snowdens are not Waller and Gold Coast is not Randwick.
Waller does not have a runner in the 2YO or 3YO Classics.
The Snowdens have two horses in the 3YO Classic.
Aim is a Snowden horse and the favourite in the 2YO race, currently $5.50. Next is third liner King’s Legacy at $7, followed by Stellar Pauline for $21 and Nitrous for $26.
Peter Snowden is obviously enjoying fielding the favourite, but he was touting Stellar Pauline in an interview on Radio Tab.
“Stellar Pauline she has jumped out of the ground from her first start,” Snowden said, when mentioning that he had not planned to start her before the daughter of Not A Single Doubt turned in some head-turning track work.
“She has just gone gangbusters,” Snowden said.
Stellar Pauline has run second in her two starts, second to Every Rose at Randwick October past and then second to stablemate Aim at Randwick last month.
Aim had quite a margin, four lengths in that second race, but Stellar Pauline beat third place runner Hinchbeast by three lengths and Hinchbeast had jumped the $4.40 favourite.
Snowden explained that Aim had enjoyed the benefit of a run, while Stellar Pauline was first up following a spell from the October Randwick appearance.
Snowden also created muted expectations for Stellar Pauline, saying, “It was a first-up run at 1200m for her, normally we would go 1100m first-up for them but she went to 1200(m).She is not a big strong filly and I thought I could only afford to give her one run and that’s why it was 1200(m).
“I thought if we make the (Magic Millions) field, we make it.”
Stellar Pauline has the capable Brenton Avdulla in the irons and the pair will jump from the 13th barrier.
