Oscierta to Jump Again Debut to be Announced Subsequently
That advice would have served Luke Nolen well Saturday last, when after safely passing the post in a ride at Flemington; he came off his mount and ended up with a back injury for his lack of vigilance.
In keeping, however, with the old saying that advises getting ride back up in the saddle after falling, Nolen is going to be on Oscierta, “Baby Caviar,” as some have taken to calling her, when she makes another unofficial jumpout as she gets closer to her actual debut.
That announcement is due to follow the Friday trial. Oscierta is entered for races at Moonee Valley on the last day of the year, but also at Flemington on day one of 2017. Since not even Oscierta’s mum Black Caviar could be in two places simultaneously, the final decision on where to run rests with trainer David Hayes, with the latter option of running at Headquarters seeming to hold the most sway for the moment.
Everyone wants to see Oscierta in the Group 1 Golden Slipper in March at Rosehill Gardens and even though she is not yet nominated, she is being offered by bookmakers at $26. Mum never won the Slipper, as she never tried it.
