Do Not Overlook Catchy in Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes
With a swampy track that will undoubtedly deteriorate by the time the Group 1 Golden Slipper Stakes jumps at number seven on the meeting card, there are more than a few that few that Catchy can catch favourite Houtzen.
The bay filly by Fastnet Rock from Cats Whisker, has never had anything other than first as a result of her four runs, one at Moonee Valley December past, and three a Caulfield, including her recent triumph in late February in the Group 1 Blue Diamond.
Hayes and Daberning have the makings of a true champion in Catchy, and the filly needs only 21 more consecutive wins to catch Black Caviar.
The day ahead of the race, she is being quoted at $5.00, behind only Houtzen, and she has the benefit of the eighth barrier, compared to Houtzen’s 16th.
Houtzen also has yet to lose, but her only significant win to date has been the Magic Millions 2YO Classic at Gold Coast.
Both fillies have never run at Rosehill, but given the climate of late, both have experience on slow turf.
Two races prior to the Golden Slipper, Winx will run, and no doubt, the heat from her hooves will firm up the Rosehill course, which is currently rated at Heavy 9.
