Mossin’ Around Ready for Business at Caulfield BM 84 Event
AFL supporters and players are not the only ones who do not share a high level of enthusiasm for the northerners from Sydney and North South Wales invading Victoria seeking spoils of one sort or the other.
Saying North South Wales was deliberate, something of a mild sledge aimed at the many fine athletes and general population that inhabit the region, but in the case of Caulfield trainer Grahame Begg, he is looking to make some bank whilst the Sydney horses, for the most part, stay home during the autumn, as opposed to the spring, when they migrate south in numbers.
Begg is staking his fortunes on Mossin’ Around, his four-year-old bay mare. Mossin’ Around has had a recent rest and had to be pulled last spring in prior to Cup week when she developed boils.
She will make her return in a few days in a Fillies and Mares Benchmark 84 race at Caulfield with Craig Williams in the saddle, with the objective being some good results to raise her rating and get her into some of the better quality mares’ races.
She was doing well this time last year, when she strung together four consecutive second place finishes, including the Group 2 Angus Armanasco Stakes at Caulfield.
Mossin’ Around will be up against quality competition, such as Chiavari and Lyuba, so a good showing could raise her rating.
