Mick Price Runs First of Banned Moody’s Horses
Mick Price is earning the distinction of sending out the first of the horses that have moved on from Peter Moody. Price will have Pluto running at Caulfield in the 1100 m Robert Taranto Handicap.
Price will be taking on about 20 of Moody’s horses as the result of Moody’s cobalt suspension of six months that begins today.
Pluto trialed twice for Moody, but Price will have to rely on the track work he observed earlier in the week. Pluto was sired by Sepoy and foaled in 2013. The colt has an impressive pedigree of Australian and U.S. lineage that includes Vain, Danzig and U.S. Triple Crown winner Secretariat.
Moody is able to retain his ownership interests in Pluto and is relying on his friend Price to look after the horses for the time being, until Moody decides his future course when his six-month ban is served. He will also be permitted to pass along intelligence to Price and other trainers that take on his horses.
Brad Rawiller will take the ride on Pluto, currently priced by bookmakers at $8.50 to $10.
The Saturday meeting at Caulfield will feature another former Moody charge in the last race of the day. Skeletons will compete in the 2000 m Noel Rundle Handicap.
