Magic Millions 2YO Classic and 3YO Guineas Cap Card
With the barriers drawn for this weekend’s Gold Coast Magic Millions meeting complete, the betting markets now have some direction, although two of the more favoured horses will have to devise a way to move in from the car park and do so quickly, as they have only 1200 metres with which to work.
Jonker is the favourite at the moment, quoted on Ladbrokes at $4.20. He and Mr. Bowman will be jumping from the third barrier.
Number two in the wagering currently goes to Sunlight at $4.40, but she is on the outside looking in, as she has drawn the 15th barrier, which is about as wide as is possible, given a 16 horse field.
The unfortunate Ef Troop at $4.80 drew 18, but he will obviously shift in when the emergencies are removed.
Two others that might get a look are Nomothaj, currently at $11 and having drawn barrier two, which will be a good spot for marking Jonker in three, and Meryl, who will come out of five at somewhere in the vicinity of $15.
Bondi carries that same quote, but he and Blake Shinn Drew 20, so it remains to be seen where the pair winds up.
Immediately preceding the 2YO Classic, race seven if the Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.
Piertra is the clear favourite for that 1400 m race and will jump from the rail, currently quoted at $2.40. Next closest is Sasso Corbaro at $6, jumping from 14thposition.
Bowman has a good shot on Calculated at $11.00, but the pair was not nearly so fortunate with the draw and will start wide in the 15thbarrier.
Goodfella has drawn well with the sixth barrier and carries odds of $9.50 for the moment, the same price carried by Wild Heart and Brenton Avdulla. That pair will jump from three.
Bel Sonic, Smartedge and Whypeeoare the other three that have some potential.
