Luke Nolen Ready to Ride 2016 Spring Carnivals
Luke Nolen reports that he is recovering on schedule from the broken ribs and fractured shoulder he received in a fall from Miss Promiscuity. The incident happened in the 1200 m Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes at Morphettville on May 8.
He expects to be ready to be back aboard in August.
Physical therapy has begun and Nolen projects it to last several more weeks before he makes an attempt to get back in the saddle for some trackwork in the second half of July.
Nolen had only recently gotten back into racing after back surgery in 2015 had him out for four months at the end of the year on into 2016.
He had won the 2000 m Group 1 Australasian Oaks less than an hour before his crash, riding Abbey Marie.
Swimming was a part of the early therapy regime as his initial rehabilitation is designed to go easy on any sort of weight-bearing activity at first.
Nolen expressed optimism regarding his recovery routine and is no doubt confident that he can add to his three Melbourne jockeys’ premierships.
His recent crash escapade adds extra meaning to the old saying about what should be done when one falls off a horse.
