Laughing Gravy and Glen Boss Win Group 1 STC QE II at Kranji
Cliff Brown seems to have taken a very sound strategic course in his approach to developing Laughing Gravy into a serious contender for high quality races in the not too distant future.
Gravy easily won the 2000 m Singapore Turf Club Group I Queen Elizabeth II Cup on Sunday at Kranji, giving jokey Glen Boss a winner’s eye view of the proceedings after settling in third for the first 1000 m before outclassing the rest of the field beginning with the exit of the home turn to post a 2 ½ length win.
Boss says the feeling he gets from riding Gravy is one of confidence, the confidence of knowing that his mount has the benefit of superb presentation.
It appears that Boss is staying true to his decision to use Singapore for his base for now and the near future, although he did not seem to rule out Australian racing completely.
Laughing Gravy, the five-year-old gelding output of Australians Primus and Foxy Moi, and grandson of Cox Plate winner Rubiton, has a respectable resume, with a 37.5 percent winning strike rate, beat second place finisher Cooptado, and third placed Bourbon Goldman to win the QE II Cup.
