Final Field and Barriers for Final Group 1 Tattersall’s Tiara
The final field and barrier draw for the final Group 1 race of the 2015-2016 thoroughbred racing season, the 1400 m Tattersall’s Tiara (aka. The Winter Stakes), has been declared for Saturday’s race at Eagle Farm.
Sixteen gallopers will take part in the weight-for-age race that is limited to fillies and mares.
Trainer Ciaron Maher’s Azkadellia is the pre-race favourite and will be ridden out of barrier 11 by Nicholas Hall.
The Danish Twist, Kris Lees, Hugh Bowman triumvirate will jump from barrier one.
Precious Gem drew barrier four and will be ridden by Blake Shinn.
David Pfeiffer, who was staking his chances of winning his first Group 1 race on Cradle Me, not only has to beat Azkadellia, but will have do so from far outside in the 13th barrier. She will at the least have a good spot from which to monitor her.
Fourteen of the 16 horses were given 57 kg, with the remaining two receiving 55.5 kg, so that element of a weigh-for-age race is mainly absent. Blueberry Hill and My Poppette have the benefit of 1.5 kg. and both are quoted at $21 by Betstar.
Of the four main contenders, Precious Gem had the best draw and she is currently quoted at $8, identical to Cradle Me.
