Expect a Little Jostling at Doomben in Tatt’s Tiara
Well, it is called gambling for a reason might be the operative lesson now that the field for the 2018 Sky Racing Tatt’s Club Tiara has been set and the barrier draw announced.
Champagne Cuddles has drawn the fourth barrier and the three-year-old filly will have Corey Brown steering. She is currently quoted at $5.50 by Ladbrokes. She has been the favourite in the lead-up, following a win and two thirds in her last three races, so picking her on form is tough, but for the fact that there does not seem to be another in the field that has performed any better of late.
Prompt Response and Blake Shinn will be right beside her in the third barrier. She will spot Champagne Cuddles 1.5 kg. and she has run well of late, with two seconds and a win in her last four. She currently has a $6 tag on her head.
Super Cash is on the third line at $8.50, but she will be jumping from the 17th barrier and will have to find a way to deal with a large field in the brief span of 1350 metres in the final Group 1 race of the 2017 – 2018 thoroughbred racing season.
Some of the horses in the field are priced as high as $151, but after the top three, Savanna Amour, at $9.50, will jump from the rail and offer some competition, as the outside positioned horses will have to come to her.
Moss Trip has done nice work for the Snowdens, but she is as wide as wide can be, so her $11 quote is no surprise. She does have Brenton Avdulla to steer her and he is no stranger to wide draws.
Avdulla seems a lock to win the NSW Jockeys premiership, unless Tye Angland can find a way to win 20 races to none by Avdulla in the few days remaining in the season.
Anyone who picks the winner in this race should run right out and buy a lotto ticket while their luck lasts.
