Cradle Me Could Bring David Pfieffer First Group 1 Win
For trainer David Pfieffer, Saturday’s Group 1 Tatt’s Tiara (formerly the Winter Stakes) at Eagle Farm could offer him the opportunity to achieve that milestone to which all thoroughbred trainers aspire, notching their first Group 1 win.
Pfeiffer is based at Warwick, where he has seen to the preparations for Cradle Me to the extent that the horse had a career-best victory in the Group 2 Dane Ripper Stakes on the official re-opening of Eagle Farm on June 11.
The seven-year-old mare has risen to unexpectedly good form, giving her trainer and connections good reason for optimism ahead of the Tatt’s.
Jockey Zac Purton will again be on top of Cradle Me, as he was for the Dane Ripper Stakes.
In order to win, Cradle Me will have to best Azkadellia and in most probability have to contend with Chris Waller’s filly Tsarista, the galloper that denied Pfieffer and Cradle Me in the Queensland Guineas.
With four days until the jump, Betstar lists Azkadellia at $2.50. Tsarista at $5.00 and Griante at $9.00 ahead of Cradle Me at $10, tied with Precious Gem.
The Tatt’s Tiara lowers the curtain on the 2015-2016 season of racing at the Group 1 level.
